LLC and Personal Credit Card Debt?

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Michael R asked:

What I am asking is highly unethical and possibly illegal, if that is the case please let me know if it is illegal so I don’t get myself in trouble.

I currently have an LLC, I also have a large amount of Credit Card debt.

If I put all my Personal Credit Card Debt under my LLC, (LLC credit and so on) make a good faith effort to pay off that Debt, but have to declair bankruptcy on my LLC, How will that effect my Personal Credit rating?

Also since the debt it under my LLC because I used that to pay off all my personal credit card debt, could collections come after my personal finances?
But if I open a bar with my LLC, and the bar goes under…the creditors can’t sue me to collect the debt because the LLC protects me. Am I not understanding that aspect of LLC’s?

Using that, if I pay off my Credit Cards with the bank, using my LLC credit, defult on my LLC debt…my LLC should protect me.

Unless I am completely miss understanding what an LLC protects you from.

Why are some people so incompetent with running businesses or managing personal finances?

I worked for a guy that owned a restaurant like Quiznos or Subway. He kept it open about 3 hours too early and 3-4 hours too late everyday. He also wanted the place to make money too. Since it did deliveries, we were always in a real jam at lunch and dinner because we didn’t have enough people. He also wanted us to get out right after we closed, instead of cleaning the place properly. He’s now about to lose it for failing his franchise reports and health inspections. My senior manager can’t convince him to look at the numbers and make the hours more sensible. His lovely house was collateral to get the franchises. Oh, did I mention he got a second location and put it in a ridiculous place everyone knew wasn’t going to make money?

My dad is a doctor and makes six-figures. He’s almost 60 and nearly broke, and he doesn’t even live the high life. He hates his job, works for less than he’s worth even when he gets about 10 offers a week in the mail. When other people were getting their houses foreclosed, he almost lost his because he wanted to write a book instead of work. He could honestly be retired if he managed his money better. He puts himself in a voluntary financial crisis.

What is wrong with these people? Why can’t some people handle their business?

AP Art History or Personal Finance?

This year I’m a junior in high school taking 2 honors classes(English and science) and one AP class (US History). I have an opportunity to switch out of one of my electives (personal finance) to switch into AP Art History. This is the last year the class will be offered at my school because the teacher of it retired last year but she is coming back just to teach this one class. I know that she is an excellent teacher, and I would learn a lot, I also love art. Personal finance though, is also a class I really wanted to take. I’m a cheapskate, I love to save money, so this class is good for me. I would not get a chance to take it senior year because the electives I’m taking are Anatomy and Physiology, Spanish, AP Literature, US Government(half semester class), and AK History(half semester class). The last two classes are required at my school so I can’t opt out of them. And I really want to take the others. I am a straight A student so I know I can handle the course load, but I don’t know which one would benefit me more in the long run.

So….. should I stay in personal finance or switch to AP Art History?
What would you do if you were me?

Thanks.

Where can I find a site like Yahoo Answers about personal finance?

Frank Pytel asked:

I develop custom spreadsheet applications. Some of them can be viewed at this link.

http://groups.google.com/group/exce…

I have been asked, and have provided, personal finance tracking applications in Excel. Does anyone know of a site, similar to Yahoo Answers, where people go to ask questions about personal finance. I have checked Yahoo Answers personal finance area, and it seems that people are mostly concerned with what’s fair or not or did I get ripped off. Nothing wrong with this. Great place for help. But I am interested in finding out what kind of applications people are interested in.

Or, if you have a request, I am here. ;)

Thanks and God Bless

I don’t understand what the difference is between the two, as I need to know for my personal finance class. I’ve gotten many definitions but all I get is that ‘a policyholder owns the policy and is not always the insurer’. Maybe a few situational examples would help me out.

The Dun & Bradstreet paydex score is above 80, and company has been in business for 5 years. Personal credit is strong (700+) but thats what we’re trying to stay away from. I know about LLC and personally guaranteeing it that way. Just wanted to know if it was possible under a corporation. A lot of companies out there brag and boast about being able to do it but in the end never come through. I know how the game works for Trade credit and cash credit and was able to obtain the financing, just need to know the real estate side now. Any answers/help would be greatly appreciated

What would be some good nationwide banks or credit unions (not financing companies) to look into for applying for an unsecured personal loan of $7500 at a prime rate for someone with a 789 TU score?
Know of any that are TU pullers, specifically?
What are the ones with good reputations?

Thanks
